OH RATS!

Pest Control Training Lesson #1: How to Properly Hold a Rat Trap

Don't try this at home! When treating rats, scented glueboards as well as mechanical traps are used to try to outsmart these very clever rodents!
Did you know? Rats have poor eyesight, so they use their whiskers to navigate, and they also establish "runways" for each other through scented oil secretions known as "grease marks" to find their way around. The grease marks from their bellies leave a distinct odor. Over time, they may even leave visible marks that a trained professional can use to decipher their locations in order to determine how to trap them. Rats may also leave behind trails of food, dragging it from its origin to where they are nesting. A rat in your home is not a pleasant thing to have as they are very dirty, full of harmful bacteria, and they defecate dozens of times a day. Their urine has an awful and unforgettable smell. Don't use poison for rats in your home as they will likely hide and die in your walls or ceiling, making their bodies difficult to find but horrible to smell! It's definitely worth it to hire a professional to safely and hygienically take care of rats in the home!
